About Us

The site is conceived, designed and written by Richard Telford who manages it from Abdallah House, an ongoing project designed using the ethic and design principles. The website is inspired by the work of permaculture co-originator David Holmgren.

This site is also supported by David Arnold who produces the permaculture calendar and Michele Margolis who produces the permaculture diary.

Richard Telford Richard Telford
Graphic Artist and Permaculture Designer

Richard’s background in advertising has been put to good use, developing the principle icons for David’s book ‘Permaculture: Principles and Pathways Beyond Sustainability’ which has developed into this website. Other publications have followed, including Holmgren’s eBooks, the Principles Teaching Kit, Permaculture Calendar and original design of the Permaculture Diary.

In the blog Abdallah House he explores the application of the permaculture design principles in rebuilding of a rundown bungalow into a showcase in sustainable design.

David Holmgren David Holmgren
Co-originator of the permaculture concept

David Holmgren is best known as the co-originator with Bill Mollison of the permaculture concept following the publication of ‘Permaculture One’ in 1978. Since then he has written several more books, developed three properties using permaculture principles, conducted workshops and courses in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Japan and North America and now in Latin America.

Within the growing and international permaculture movement, David is respected for his commitment to presenting permaculture ideas through practical projects and teaching by personal example, that a sustainable lifestyle is a realistic, attractive and powerful alternative to dependant consumerism. David is passionate about the philosophical and conceptual foundations for sustainability which are highlighted in his book, Permaculture: Principles and Pathways Beyond Sustainability, which inspired this site.

For more about David's work visit his website, see the Future Scenarios website or view his video interviews and presentations.
